The Christmas Gift

Sermon Notes:

Christmas time for me is one of the most amazing times and seasons. I love this time because to me it's a lot of family time. I love getting together with my family and enjoy just hanging out together. Eating and watching Christmas movies and eating.

This year 2020 has been such an Incredible and different time altogether. We have had so much pressure and conflict within our nation that it runs all the way down to our states and cities to our families.

We have been so busy that I realized we did not really decorate or even put up a Christmas tree. Wow! We are looking to downsize from our home into something a lot smaller since it is just Pastor Yvonne and myself.

We are slowly decluttering so we did not put up any decorations or even a tree.

Through this whole time and process, God began to show me so much about this time and season we call Christmas.

It was never about the trees and presents and all the stuff we usually make it about. It is about Jesus and what He has done for our world. It has really been a special time of reflection about how good God is. This time has made me so grateful for God, family, and our church community. We are family. It has made me think of so many things that I am grateful for that I maybe did not realize as much.

The Gift

Really this is what Christmas is all about. The gift that God gave to humanity. When God gave us Jesus he gave us the Gift with many Gifts that proceed from the Gift Jesus.

“Now thanks be to God for His indescribable gift [which is precious beyond words]!”

2 Corinthians 9:15 AMP

“Thanks be to God for his gift that is too wonderful for words.”

2 Corinthians 9:15 NCV

As I was praying and asking God for a special word for this Christmas Season He is faithful and did give me a word for you.

When I read this scripture my mind and heart went racing in a direction but then Holy Spirit who is our teacher stopped me.

This word is talking about a gift. What is this gift? At first, I kept thinking it was Jesus, but if you read above it you will get a revelation as I did.

“Now He who provides seed for the sower and bread for food will provide and multiply your seed for sowing [that is, your resources] and increase the harvest of your righteousness [which shows itself in active goodness, kindness, and love].”

2 Corinthians 9:10 AMP

Look at the Gift here in this context. The Gift is a seed. The gift that is too wonderful for words is a seed.

A Seed is a Gift

Seed means a source of development or growth, the beginning of something which continues to develop or grow, a small object produced by a plant from which a new plant can grow.

Seed is a source of development, growth. In life a seed the source of life if it is planted and nurtured.

A seed is life waiting to be developed and grow.

Seeds produce life.

Here it speaks of God giving us seed to take care of us and also to sow. Every seed creates a harvest. Something is always produced, developed and grown with every seed we sow.

Galatians 6:7 says you and I will reap what we sow. What ever the seeds we sow we will reap. Galatians says if you sow to the flesh or spirit, right or wrong, productive or destructive you and I and all of humanity will produce, develop, and grow something.

A seed is so powerful. Seed produce in the harvest like love, active goodness, kindness this is produced when we sow financially.

We have the ability to sow peace, joy, love, compassion, care, help, service, etc. Imagine the harvest we will produce, grow, develop by these and many other seeds.

The wonderful Gift is a seed. There is so much power, potential, capabilities in a seed.

A seed is just a seed unless it is sown. Seeds in a bag stay a seed with potential, capabilities, power, but it has to be sown. When you sow you release it from you.

The seed must be fertilized, it must be in the right environment in order to produce all that is within the seed.

The greatest seed was Jesus. God planted his seed in a young virgin named Mary.

““BEHOLD, THE VIRGIN SHALL BE WITH CHILD AND GIVE BIRTH TO A SON, AND THEY SHALL CALL HIS NAME Immanuel”—which, when translated, means, “GOD WITH US.””

Matthew 1:23 AMP

God sowed a seed that was filled with power, potential, capabilities to save all humanity.

A seed has to be released, let go and planted. The seed has to be sown to grow, to develop, to produce more.

““For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His [One and] only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish, but have eternal life.”

John 3:16 AMP

God loves you and I and everyone so much that He gave apart of Himself, His seed and when born they called Him Immanuel.

Immanuel when translated mean: GOD WITH US.

THIS SEED IS A SEED OF SALVATION. THIS SEED IS A SEED OF HOPE, THIS SEED IS A SEED OF TRUE LOVE. THIS SEED IS A SEED OF PROSPERITY. THIS SEED IS A SEED OF ABUNDANT LIVING. THIS SEED IS A SEED OF JOY, EXCEEDING JOY. THIS SEED IS A SEED OF POWER AND PURPOSE.

WE GIVE PRESENTS TO THOSE WE LOVE AND CARE ABOUT. IT IS NOT SO MUCH WHAT IT IS BUT THE LOVE THAT IS GIVEN IN THE GIFT OF GIVING.

GIVING IS A SEED. GOD GAVE JESUS TO US SO WE MIGHT HAVE LIFE ETERNAL. GOD GAVE HIS BEST TO SHOW HIS LOVE FOR HUMANITY.

OUR GIVING IS A REFLECTION OF OUR LOVE.

TONIGHT I STAND BEFORE YOU TO OFFER YOU GODS GIFT, CHRIST FOR YOUR CHRISTMAS. A FREE GIFT TO EXCEPT. IT IS FREE FOR YOU, BUT IT COST GOD AND JESUS TO GIVE IT TO YOU.

IS HAVE A GIFT. IT IS WRAPPED UP AND INSIDE IS THE GIFT. YOU HAVE TO RECEIVE IT. RECEIVING IS NOT ENOUGH, THEN YOU HAVE TO OPEN IT UP AND CLAIM IT AS YOURS.

MANY TAKE THE GIFT BUT NEVER OPEN AND USE THE GIFT.

HIS GIFT TO YOU IS LOVE, FORGIVENESS, HOPE, SALVATION, COMPANIONSHIP, POWER AND PURPOSE, AND MANY MORE.

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God [that is, His remarkable, overwhelming gift of grace to believers] is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Romans 6:23 AMP
