Resurrection Experience

Sermon Notes

Four significant times and events for the resurrection. The cross for crucifixion, the tomb for burial for death, rolled away stone and empty tomb & Risen.

Resurrection means a rising from the dead. a rising again, as from decay, disuse, etc.; revival. A rising again. Revival.

Revival: 1. the act or an instance of reviving or the state of being revived 2. an instance of returning to life or consciousness; restoration of vigor or vitality

Expand n. 1650s, “act of reviving;” 1660s, “the bringing of an old play back to the stage,” from revive + -al (2). First in sense “general religious awakening in a community” by Cotton Mather, 1702; revivalist is first attested 1812.

And old play brought back to the stage and played in a new day and new way.

Resurrection means a rising again, revival. Bringing something back to life that was dead. Revival. Bringing an old play back to the stage.

Stage is set for resurrection. Jesus foretell all that is to happen. The disciples were not really paying attention. They were more into their idea of how it was all to happen.

Jesus has gone thru the mock trial, sentenced to death by crucifixion, he would carry His cross, endure the horrible torture and humiliation. The cross is the symbol of shame and judgement. Jesus bore our sins while he hung on the cross. He paid for all of humanities sins on the cross. Nailed and his body hung for our lives.

Jesus was nailed to the cross along with our sins. Guilt and shame and condemnation keep us nailed to the cross. The enemy wants you to keep your sins alive. He wants to keep reminding you over and over. He will have people remind you over and over. When you are stuck in guilt and shame and condemnation you make the what Jesus did on the cross useless for you. Guilt, shame, and condemnation will keep nailing you and your sin suffering over and over on a cross where Jesus said it’s Finished. Jesus screamed at the moment he gave up his spirit to God, IT IS FINISHED.

“When it was evening, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who also was a disciple of Jesus.” Matthew 27:57 AMPC

This rich man goes to Pilate asks for the body and they give him the body of Jesus. He takes him and prepares him a proper burial. Wraps him in proper linen and places him in his tomb. Has a huge stone rolled in front to block the entrance.

Tomb is death, dark, empty. This is the place where it looks so hopeless in your life. OUR Jesus is laid and wrapped in a tomb. This is supposed to be the end here. This is ending. This is the place of hopelessness. When Jesus died and was laid in the tomb, his disciples scattered. They were hopeless. It looked hopeless. It looked like it was over. Many translation say many of the disciples returned back to old lives and fishing. They were so discouraged, and distraught, disheartened. They felt lost. Jesus has felt everything we go thru he felt it, he went thru it, he can feel our pain. He understands our hurts, discouragements.

The tomb is where it looks like nothing is going on, but the Spirit of the Living God is in the tomb with Jesus, he is in the tomb when we are going thru the times and periods of darkness and death.

Remember death is not the end. Everything must die in order to prepare for the new life.

The tomb is the place of the unseen supernatural. The tomb was not the symbol of death. Yes death went in but with Jesus death is not death but life.

There are times when we have been in the tombs of despair, we have been in the tomb of depression, the tomb of loneliness. David experienced this tomb like place. He is on the run, hunted, lonely, hungry, and afraid, hold up in a cave.

This tomb times are nothing more than the cocoon of metamorphoses. You go in looking like a dead ugly caterpillar, but the process is hidden. No one sees what God is doing with you, your family, your heart in this tomb. People can’t help you here. No knows the struggles you are experiencing in this dark empty place. We fight this place, but this is the place of transformations. The tomb is temporary. You can’t stay here. You got to transform to come out.

“NOW AFTER the Sabbath, near dawn of the first day of the week, Mary of Magdala and the other Mary went to take a look at the tomb. And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled the boulder back and sat upon it. His appearance was like lightning, and his garments as white as snow.” Matthew 28:1-3 AMPC

Pilate had placed guards to ensure no one stole the body.

Cross, tomb, now the stone rolled away. The stone is what man puts to separate life from death. That stone could represent things you have said or believed about you. It’s huge, it’s heavy it’s blocking my break thru.

I love this part. Man, Joseph of Amatheia put Jesus in the tomb. Supernatural will get you out. Jesus had his tomb experience. The days and transformation. The stone was rolled away by Gods Angel. Supernatural would roll it away when natural was what rolled it shut at first.

You have to allow God to take you thru His process. The natural man with all its fears, doubts and unbeliefs has to die, has to go thru the tomb time.

Tomb Time is when you are all wrapped up, locked up, all alone and the only one you can talk to his God. He is the only one in the tomb with you.

Supernatural time. Rock and roll time. It is an act of God . No man can take credit for what God is doing in your life. He is preparing you to come out of your tomb. Your tomb time is now getting ready to be empty tomb time.

Supernatural, you are not there anymore. You are down the road, walking with Jesus. The guards were said to be as dead men. When it’s time for you to emerge to come out of your tomb time, the flesh that was supposed to keep you in the tomb will drop dead. Fear will drop dead. Failures in the past will have to kick the bucket. Natural can not stop the rolling away of this stone. First when man rolled it to shut and close off the tomb it was death, the end, hopelessness, it’s over. This stone when supernatural rolled it away represents FREEDOM. RESURRECTION. RISING UP AGAIN.

Revival resurrection, remember bringing an old play back to the stage. Jesus defeated death, hell and the grave. Revival.

“Jesus said to her, I am [Myself] the Resurrection and the Life. Whoever believes in (adheres to, trusts in, and relies on) Me, although he may die, yet he shall live; And whoever continues to live and believes in (has faith in, cleaves to, and relies on) Me shall never [actually] die at all. Do you believe this?” John 11:25-26 AMPC

God wants to perform a revival in you. He wants to take and old play and make it new and bring it back to the stage of life and let everyone see the new you show.
