Father’s Day is an occasion to mark and celebrate the contribution that your own father and father-like figures has made to your life. I like the word celebrate. We want to celebrate Our Father and father’s Today.
“Dad, are bugs good to eat?” asked the boy. “Let’s not talk about such things at the dinner table, son,” his father replied. After dinner the father inquired, “Now, son, what did you want to ask me?” “Oh, nothing,” the boy said. “There was a bug in your soup, but now it’s gone.”
Four men are in the hospital waiting room because their wives are having babies. A nurse goes up to the first guy and says, “Congratulations! You’re the father of twins.” “That’s odd,” answers the man. “I work for the Minnesota Twins!” A nurse says to the second guy, “Congratulations! You’re the father of triplets!” “That’s weird,” answers the second man. “I work for the 3M company!” A nurse tells the third man, “Congratulations! You’re the father of quadruplets!” “That’s strange,” he answers. “I work for the Four Seasons hotel!” The last man is groaning and banging his head against the wall. “What’s wrong?” the others ask. “I work for 7 Up!”
God gave me these three thoughts of fathers. They are protectors, providers, priest of there home.
My own experience is I did not have a physical father in my life. God became my Father. I sought out of His Word the Bible about being a Father and what does that look like for me. I thank God because over the years He has brought Father Figures into my life to love me and guide me and correct me. A father is not about the age but the heart. God looks at the heart before He looks at anything else. A heart that is open to God and His ways.
We live in a culture where many are growing up in fatherless homes without a strong, godly, male figure in their lives. The world paints a absent, weak, useless figure for males today. God has a whole other story of men.
God started with a man. I believe Men and Fathers are a direct target for the enemy. God called us men and Fathers to be the Protectors, Providers, and the Priest the Spiritual Leaders in our home and families.
‘This is why we want to celebrate the men of God that are represented here. God is looking for a few good men to stand in the gap for lives, souls.
A Father is neither an anchor to hold us back nor a sail to take us there, but a guiding light who’s love, guidance, and life show us the way.
Dad, a sons first hero, a daughters first love.
God said we could cry out to Him with the words ABBA Father which means Our Father. WE all have a Father. We have our Father who loves with no limits. WE have a Father who fights for us no matter what we do or how we live. We have our Father who cares and is filled with so much unlimited compassion. We have our Father who believes so much more than we even do ourselves. WE have our Father who is wonderful and gave everything for us.
Father the PROTECTOR:
“Then I said to you, ‘Do not be shocked, nor fear them. ~‘The LORD your God who goes before you will fight for you Himself, just as He did for you in Egypt before your [very] eyes, and in the wilderness where you saw how the LORD your God carried and protected you, just as a man carries his son, all along the way which you traveled until you arrived at this place.’” DEUTERONOMY 1:29-31 AMP
Moses is reminding them of their Father the Protector. This is in men. God put it in them. The enemy seeks to discredit God by causing men to fail as the protectors. God is our Devine Protector. It says He goes before you, He will fight for you Himself. They seen His Protection. Many times men do not get the honor they deserve, this is also a strategy of the enemy.
YOU SAW HOW THE LORD YOUR GOD CARRIED AND PROTECTED YOU, JUST AS A MAN CARRIES HIS SON.
I HAVE CARRIED MY CHILDREN, I CARRIED THEM WHEN THEY WERE AFRAID. I CARRED THEM WHEN THEY WERE HURT AND WOUNDED. I CARRIED THEM WHEN THEY COULD NOT CARRY THEMSELVES. GOD CREATED US TO PROTECT. THOSE FATHERS THAT DID NOT FORGIVE THEM. THEY WERE DECEIVED BY THE ENEMY. THIS IS WHY THE I BELIEVE THERE IS AN ASSULT ON MEN, FATHERS TODAY.
FATHER THE PROVIDER:
“But you shall remember [with profound respect] the LORD your God, for it is He who is giving you power to make wealth, that He may confirm His covenant which He swore (solemnly promised) to your fathers, as it is this day.” DEUTERONOMY 8:18 AMP
“And my God will liberally supply (fill until full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” PHILIPPIANS 4:19 AMP
FATHER THE PRIEST:
“My son, do not reject or take lightly the discipline of the LORD [learn from your mistakes and the testing that comes from His correction through discipline]; Nor despise His rebuke, For those whom the LORD loves He corrects, Even as a father corrects the son in whom he delights.” PROVERBS 3:11-12 AMP
“Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger [do not exasperate them to the point of resentment with demands that are trivial or unreasonable or humiliating or abusive; nor by showing favoritism or indifference to any of them], but bring them up [tenderly, with lovingkindness] in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.” EPHESIANS 6:4 AMP
