“And do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs], but be transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you].”
Romans 12:2 AMP
Here is the key thought here. You will either learn, discipline to train your thoughts to obey you or you will obey your whatever thoughts. You will control your thoughts or your thoughts will control you.
Most people are controlled by uncontrolled and untrained thoughts that just control our whole lives. Many are sad, mad, frustrated, angry, resentful, fearful, hopeless, helpless, prideful, egotistical, double-minded, limited and lacking, all created by uncontrolled thoughts.
When I went sentenced by the courts to join the military I remember getting off the bus to boot camp. I was sitting there with hundreds of other with my braided long hair and braided beard looking at this crazy picture.
My world was going to be rocked and my thinking would be challenged. I went in with an attitude of I was forced to be here.
Boot camp was a place to bring civilians and change they way the thinks and believe about military. The first thing they did was being by changing everything about you. Your looks, your clothes, teach and teach and train and train with discipline over and over and over. Day in and day out well into the night these training sessions would go on and on. Over and over they would do the same things over and over.
They wanted to change your thoughts to change your beliefs so you could think and believe military and not civilian.
Philippians 4:8 AMP. “Finally, believers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable and worthy of respect, whatever is right and confirmed by God’s word, whatever is pure and wholesome, whatever is lovely and brings peace, whatever is admirable and of good repute; if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think continually on these things [center your mind on them, and implant them in your heart].”
We get saved and become born again. We come into a spiritual and heavenly realm but we still are here on earth in the natural.
Christianity is so weak today because many do not discipline themselves in the things of God.
Many are more earthly-minded instead of heavenly-minded.
List of things to think on and train your mind on, honest, honorable, pure, true, respect, wholesome. These things that we are instructed to think brings PEACE.
STOP AND THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT DAILY. DOES IT BRING PEACE?
HERE IS WHERE YOU CAN SEE THE TRUTH ABOUT YOU AND YOUR DISCIPLINE AND TRAINING. PEACE IS PRODUCED WITH THE GOD THINKING.
Synonyms for Peace: calmness, satisfaction, serenity, tranquility, contentment, high spirits, joy, peacefulness, quiet mind, bliss.
Antonyms for Peace: discontent, dissatisfaction, disturbed, gloom, misery, pain, sadness, sorrow, trouble, unhappy, frustrated.
What is being produced by your thoughts? Many times we do not even think about what or how we think it just happens because you have not trained your self to think right.
Just because you come to church does not mean you mind will be renewed and retrained.
We should come to church as much as possible. I am surprised that many of you do not take advantage of our refuel service. It is training to help you change your mindsets and thinking and believing.
We believe education is so important that we send our children to school at least 5 days a week on average 6-8 hours a day.
Yet many Christians complain and refuse to go to church regularly. Yet cry and whine when they don’t see the results thinking God is letting them down.
It’s like you get a gym membership but you only go maybe 2-4 times a month and you get mad and want to blame and cancel your membership because you do not see the results.
It’s not the gyms fault. You thinking needs to be changed and renewed around health.
Philippines 4:8 last part. Think continually on these things [center your mind on them, and implant them in your heart].”
Think continually on these things.
Center your mind on them.
Implant them in your heart.
Thinking starts as conscious thinking. This is you when you are aware of what you choose to thing about.
Center your mind on them. This is the exercise or discipline when you choose mind renewal as a life style. It can not be a Sunday meeting every other week. This is like boot camp. You have to discipline yourself and your thoughts. You must choose everyday to do this. Every day read your bible. Everyday pray and listen to God. Everyday put positive and inspiration and motivation input into you. Everyday speak affirmations over you, your health, relationships, business, spirit, ministry, etc.
Implants you take something from the outside and put it in your inside. This is a process and procedure you must do. God will not do this for you.
What every you want you must choose. After I had a stroke and God blessed me with another chance at life. I had a choice to make. Many people God gives them another chance at life yet they make no lifestyle changes. I chose to change my diet. I chose to join a gym and exercise. I chose to take supplements. I chose peace or stress. I choose everyday what I want and that is to live my life out to fullest. I say no to fast foods, processed foods. I say no to just sitting around. I make sure I have balance when it comes to what I allow in my mind through media, tv, and entertainment.
You must become intention minded not convenient minded. Most people want results that only come from being intentional and disciplined with a convenience mind set. It is has to be easy and fun and comfortable.
No real results and no real change.
“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run [their very best to win], but only one receives the prize? Run [your race] in such a way that you may seize the prize and make it yours!”
1 Corinthians 9:24 AMP
“Now every athlete who [goes into training and] competes in the games is disciplined and exercises self-control in all things. They do it to win a crown that withers, but we [do it to receive] an imperishable [crown that cannot wither].”
1 Corinthians 9:25 AMP
“Therefore I do not run without a definite goal; I do not flail around like one beating the air [just shadow boxing].”
1 Corinthians 9:26 AMP
“But [like a boxer] I strictly discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached [the gospel] to others, I myself will not somehow be disqualified [as unfit for service].”
1 Corinthians 9:27 AMP
