BACK TO SCHOOL - Guard Your Words “Power of the Spoken Word”

Updated: Feb 28

God created us in His Image. The Image of God. God created everything in our world and the beyond by speaking. We have the creative being of God inside of us.

We want to explore the power of our words. We all speak words everyday but what are we producing with our words. Every word you speak is spiritual. Every word has a spiritual power attached to it. Words create and accomplish what every you release them to do.

My friend and mentor years ago Pastor Larry Huck used to say to me, “everything you say is a prayer and you are speaking it to God, so be very careful what you speak.”

Mark 11:22-23 AMP. “Jesus replied, “Have faith in God [constantly]. I assure you and most solemnly say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea!’ and does not doubt in his heart [in God’s unlimited power], but believes that what he says is going to take place, it will be done for him [in accordance with God’s will].”

The mountain represents something that is in our way. It could be something that is stopping you from advancing or moving ahead. It could be something that seems so big, to big to move or go through.

Jesus says for us to have faith in God constantly. Our faith will activate the power of our spoken words. He says whoever says to this mountain.

The truth is this. Faith and fear are both very powerful forces that are at work within you. When we get into these forces we will speak. Jesus says about not doubting in his heart. This means you believe something to be true. Even if it is not for you it is so.

When you believe that what you say is going to take place, it will be done for him.

How many have ever spoken words God or not and what you spoke came to pass?

This is powerful. What you have faith or fear in and speak and believe it will be done for you.

When you speak, “I am not happy enough times you begin to believe it and will do things to make it true for you.”

When you speak, “God is going to help me get through these tough times” you do.

When you speak, “I don’t feel good, I feel sick,” you are.

When you speak, “I am highly favored by God” you are.

When you speak, “I can’t do this, this is to hard for me” you are right for you it is to hard.

What ever you speak and believe Jesus says it will be done for you.

Luke 14:28 AMP. “For which one of you, when he wants to build a watchtower [for his guards], does not first sit down and calculate the cost, to see if he has enough to finish it?”

When I read this I am reminded my words create. Your words build things. The can build a bridge for you to cross over or a wall that stops you.

This scripture is speaking we are to think and get a strategy before we just start building. Before you start releasing words especially negative and toxic destructive words think what you are building. You will have what your words create and you will have to live with the creation.

This is why prayer and devotion with God is so vital to your success in creating the life God desires for you. It’s like dreaming of building a house. You got the dream now put it on paper and see the blueprints. After you figure what is going to cost to build and then you start.

These should be our words that we are so intentional with them.

When you speak negative, fearful, hateful, doubtful to your mountain what do you do? You empower the mountain by disempowering you.

Numbers 13:33 AMP. “There we saw the Nephilim (the sons of Anak are part of the Nephilim); and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.”

They had a mountain which was an army just like Goliath was. They first say the mountain and they speak creative words. They released powerful disempowering words that would cause a whole nation to die on the wrong side of the mountain.

They spoke weakness, powerlessness, hopelessness, fearful, so not only did their words stop them, but they spoke them to others and a whole nation lost out on the promise land God promised.

What are you missing out on that God has and wants for you, but because of what you are speaking it is not happening?

Marriage, financial, maybe advancement, achievements, health and healing what areas can you see where you have been disempowering your life?

The creative words the 10 spies spoke caused them all to die short of Gods Best and Blessings. It also created lack for the whole nation, men, women and children.

When you speaking remember it is life and death are within your power.

Proverbs 18:21 AMP. “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it and indulge it will eat its fruit and bear the consequences of their words.”

Point is fruit and consequences are the creative side of words. Fruit is nutritious and good for you. It feeds and helps and blesses you. Fruit can also be negative and destructive. We will eat our words and they will produce something in you and I.

Consequences is something that happens as a result of a particular action or set of conditions.

God hears what we speak out and within ourselves.

Numbers 14:27-28 AMP ““How long shall I put up with this evil congregation who murmur [in discontent] against Me? I have heard the complaints of the Israelites, which they are making against Me. Say to them, ‘As I live,’ says the Lord, ‘just what you have spoken in My hearing I will most certainly do to you;”

Here is what they spoke. “You brought us out here to die.” They spoke it, believed it and not what God promised.” They got what they spoke.

You will receive what you speak and believe. You will either move mountains or create them.

“He who guards his mouth and his tongue Guards himself from troubles.”

Proverbs 21:23 AMP

“The one who guards his mouth [thinking before he speaks] protects his life; The one who opens his lips wide [and chatters without thinking] comes to ruin.”

Proverbs 13:3 AMP

“If anyone thinks himself to be religious [scrupulously observant of the rituals of his faith], and does not control his tongue but deludes his own heart, this person’s religion is worthless (futile, barren).”

James 1:26 AMP

“Do not allow your speech to cause you to sin, and do not say before the messenger (priest) of God that it was a mistake. Why should God be angry because of your voice (words) and destroy the work of your hands?”

Ecclesiastes 5:6 AMP

“Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips [to keep me from speaking thoughtlessly].”

Psalms 141:3 AMP

“Do everything without murmuring or questioning [the providence of God],”

Philippians 2:14 AMP
