First day. COMMITMENT

Get in a groove. FAITH & WORKS. ACTION & ACTIVITY

Back to School is our new series for this month. We looked at what Envision and Vision are. Remember
Envision is when you get a thought or imagine in your mind and are contemplating it. Vision is when that
image or thought or idea gets into you mind and heart and it becomes a part of you. You own it and you
see it as TRUE. YOU BELIEVE IT AND THERE IS NO DOUBT. THIS IS VISION. IT IS IN YOU
AND NOW THE VISION IS IN YOU AND YOU ARE RUNNING WITH IT.

TODAY WE WILL LOOK AT PLANNING: PREPARATIONS TO START.

“For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you,’ says the LORD, ‘plans for peace and well-being
and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”

Jeremiah 29:11 AMP

Plan: A method for achieving an end. A detailed proposal for doing or achieving something. An act of
formulating a program for a definite course of action.

Here God is saying I know the plans and thoughts I have for you. All plans must start out as a thought.
Many things fail not because they are not great ideas but because of the failure to effectively plan right.
Many marriages fail because most people do not really understand and really made no plans to build the
marriage. Problems come up and then most quit when it gets hard. I believe the real failure was to not
really take into account the proper planning.

People get excited and jump into projects and they did not fully think it through and did not plan for the
challenges so they fail to grow.

We get so many great ideas yet why do most of them fail? Planning or the lack of planning.

God has made these wonderful plans for you and I. He has thought it through and listen as He explains it
to us. His plan for us is plans for well-being and not for disaster.

“I say this because I know what I am planning for you,” says the LORD. “I have good plans for you, not
plans to hurt you. I will give you hope and a good future.”

Jeremiah 29:11 NCV

Look and listen to our example of a great planner for our lives. God says I have good plans for you, not
plans to hurt you.

GOD HAS GOOD PLANS FOR YOU AND I, NOT PLANS TO HURT YOU.

How many times have you heard someone say, “Why reinvent the wheel?” Here God is telling us He has
Plans for our lives. Stop, how many people seek to find out His plan for their lives?

It’s like Christmas time we give gifts that have to be put together and assembled. Most people will not use
instructions remember we just like look at the picture on the box and go to work. Struggles, problems, not
quite right, extra parts left over, etc. and our lives are coming out like He planned for us.

If you don’t know His plan then how can you follow what you don’t know?

Just like assembling without instructions we guess, take chances hoping it looks right, it does it work
right. More times we create with looks in mind, God has more desire you and I work right. You can have
a great looking car with a blown engine or a slightly used car but runs like a champ.

Pastor Yvonne got a gift, a computer table with built in fans to keep her computer cool while working.
Last night we had challenges and I asked where is the instruction and box. She had neither. The person
who put it together threw out both. Here we are trying to figure it out with picture or instructions.
God’s plans for you and I are HOPE, PEACE, WELL-BEING, PROSPERITY.

“I alone know the plans I have for you, plans to bring you prosperity and not disaster, plans to bring about
the future you hope for.”

Jeremiah 29:11 GNB

HOPE: To trust in, wait for, look for, or desire something or someone; or to expect something beneficial
in the future.

To have hope is to want an outcome that makes your life better in some way. It not only can help
make a tough present situation more bearable but also can eventually improve our lives
because envisioning a better future motivates you to take the steps to make it happen.

Hope generally means a desire for things to change for the better. The American Psychology Association
reported that Children who grew up in poverty but had success later in life all had one thing in common –
HOPE. Dr. Valerie Maholmes, who worked on the research, said hope involves “planning and motivation
and determination” to get what one hopes for.

HOPE INVOLVES PLANNING, MOTIVATION AND DETERMINATION TO GET WHAT YOU
HOPE FOR.

PEACE: The Hebrew word for peace, šālôm, translated in the Septuagint most often by the Greek word,
eirēnē, has a wide semantic range including the notions of totality or completeness, success, fulfillment,
wholeness, harmony, security and well being. To be complete and sound, mind, body, soul. Wholeness.

WELL-BEING: the state of being happy, healthy, or prosperous, successful.

PROSPERITY: Prosper (Greek euodoō) – “To help on one’s way, act wisely, and be successful and
wealthy.” Biblical prosperity stems from receiving God’s wisdom and obeying His instructions on your
journey. He promises that when you meditate on His Word and obey it, “you will make your way
prosperous, and then you will have good success” (Joshua 1:8)

God has plans for us a life of HOPE, PEACE, WELL-BEING, PROSPEROUS, FOR OUR FUTURE.
MANY OF THE CHALLENGES WE FACE ARE WE ARE LIKE THE KIDS IN THE MOVIE, “Are we
there yet.” The whole trip they complained, whined because they felt uncomfortable, bored, frustrated
because of the journey. God is trying to move us into His Plans for us.

The challenge is just like what Moses went through trying to get Gods people from Egypt(bondage) to the
PROMISED LAND, GODS PLAN FOR THEM.

THEY KEPT TRYING TO CHANGE THE PLANS AND DIRECTION. EVERY TIME THEY ENCOUNTERED A CHALLENGE, OBSTACLE, THEY WANTED TO TURN BACK, GO BACK TO
BONDAGE.

Israel complained 14 major times as an event.

“Then all the congregation [of Israel] raised their voices and cried out, and the people wept that night. All
the Israelites murmured [in discontent] against Moses and Aaron; and the whole congregation said to
them, “Oh that we had died in the land of Egypt! Or that we had died in this wilderness!”

Numbers 14:1-2 AMP

Here is Gods Word to them.

“The LORD said to Moses, “How long will these people treat me disrespectfully and reject Me? And how
long will they not believe in Me, despite all the [miraculous] signs which I have performed among them?”

Numbers 14:11 AMP

The whole time had amazing plans for them. They kept disobeying His Plan and trading His Plan for
theirs. God’s plan is Hope, Peace, Well-Being, Prosperous for there future, our future.

Gods plan He has for us. It is up to us if we choose to,follow His Plan or ours. Our plans are difficult,
challenging, painful, destructive, sometimes tragic. But God loves us enough to let us follow our path to
destruction till we choose to follow His Plan.

“Commit your works to the LORD [submit and trust them to Him], And your plans will succeed [if you
respond to His will and guidance].”

Proverbs 16:3 AMP

“Planning is bringing the future into the present so that you can do something about it now.”
Alan Lakein, author

“Our goals can only be reached through a vehicle of a plan, in which we must fervently believe,
and upon which we must vigorously act. There is no other route to success.”

Pablo Picasso,
painter

“The reason most people never reach their goals is that they don’t define them, or ever seriously
consider them as believable or achievable. Winners can tell you where they are going, what
they plan to do along the way, and who will be sharing the adventure with them.”

Denis Waitley, writer and motivational speaker

“Without goals, and plans to reach them, you are like a ship that has set sail with no
destination.”

Fitzhugh Dodson, author
