STORM PROOF YOUR LIFE: Answers to life’s toughest questions. Letting Go and Moving Forward
One of the most difficult choices we make as people is to move on or move forward. Most people agree that what is ahead of them is probably better than where they are at, at the moment and yet most won’t let go and move forward.
I read a quote years ago that said, “ God can not lead a person who has not made up their minds which way to go.”
Stuck and going in circles seems to be the most common way to do life today. Stuck is where most people choose to be because they don’t see they are stuck.
Many are using the quarantine to hide from life. I believe in taking precautions but many are shutting out life for fear of getting sick, or death, or a half of dozen other reasons.
Depression, addictions, suicides, weight gains, domestic violence, and many more are pandemic because of who people are reacting during this crisis. This reaction for fear of sickness and death is causing a host of other problems.
Our world can only be saved when we come together. Not necessarily in a building but come together in our beliefs and prayer with unity.
“For where two or three are gathered in My name [meeting together as My followers], I am there among them.”
Matthew 18:20 AMP
Our fight is not against each other. Our fight is not against the politics and people. Our fight is not against black lives matter, blue lives matter, all lives matter. Our fight is not against those who choose to come to church and those who choose to stay at home. Those who believe or those who don’t.
Our fight is against spiritual wickedness in high places.
LETTING GO AND MOVING FORWARD: IS A SPIRITUAL RESPONSE TO THE NATURAL CHALLENGES YOU HAVE. YOU HAVE A CHOICE.
“Do not remember the former things, Or ponder the things of the past. Listen carefully, I am about to do a new thing, Now it will spring forth; Will you not be aware of it? I will even put a road in the wilderness, Rivers in the desert.”
Isaiah 43:18-19 AMP
IT IS GOD’S WILL AND DESIRE FOR US TO MOVE FORWARD. BEFORE WE CAN MOVE FORWARD WE MUST LET GO.
“The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson
LETTING GO OF THINGS, PEOPLE, AND MEMORIES IS UNUSUALLY TOUGH FOR MANY PEOPLE. I KNOW FOR SURE IT WAS FOR ME.
We have been talking of moving. My neighbors are begging us not too. Haha. The hardest challenge is to think about getting rid of a lot of stuff we have collected over the years. The thought of just the work of getting rid of it makes me tired and go to something else.
YOU CAN WANT TO MOVE FORWARD IN YOUR MIND BUT YOUR ACTIONS SPEAK SOMETHING ELSE.
WHY DO WE NOT LET GO OF THINGS THAT GOD IS SAYING LET GO AND MOVE FORWARD?
“The LORD says, “Forget what happened before, and do not think about the past.”
Isaiah 43:18 NCV
THE ONLY GOOD THAT COMES FROM REMEMBERING YOUR PAST IS TO LEARN WHAT NOT TO DO AGAIN. WE CAN NOT CHANGE THE PAST PERIOD. IT IS WHAT IT IS.
IF YOU WANT TO FORGET SOMETHING TRY STOP SPEAKING ABOUT IT. THE MORE YOU SPEAK ABOUT WHAT WAS IT STAYS TO WHAT IS. THE MORE YOU SPEAK OF YOUR PAST YOU REINFORCE IT IN YOUR FUTURE.
THIS IS WHY GOD SAYS FORGET IT. LET IT GO. DO NOT THINK ABOUT THE PAST.
WHEN YOU KEEP THINKING ON THE PAST OR YOUR PAST IT IS NO MORE THE PAST BUT YOUR NOW.
THIS IS WHY MANY PEOPLE CAN NOT MOVE FORWARD BECAUSE THEY HOLD ONTO THE PAST. THEY KEEP SPEAKING OF THE PAST. IT CAN ALSO BE A GREAT PAST BUT IT KEEPS YOU STILL STUCK. LET GO AND MOVE ON.
The greatest prison that keeps people tied to the past is their mistaken beliefs. It keeps YOU stuck from moving forward & not pursuing the things you desire and believe what God has for you.
God says not only to forget but to not even allow yourself to bring it back up from your memory.
Many people are slipping back into old habits of over drinking, over eating, abusing tv, not exercising, and many other destructive areas because of the mindset around being shut in. We are not as active so we are just letting our minds roam and roam and run crazy with no discipline. Many feel alone, isolated, depressed, on and on.
God says He is about to do a NEW THING. IF YOU DO NOT FORGET THE OLD THING YOU WILL NOT EVEN BE ABLE TO RECEIVE THE NEW THING BECAUSE YOU WON’T LET GO OF THE OLD THING.
THIS IS WHY IT IS SO HARD TO RECEIVE SOMETHING NEW BECAUSE WE HAVE BEEN SO ENGRAINED BY THE OLD OR PAST.
I REMEMBER PAGERS, TAPE RECORDERS, VIDEO STORES LIKE BLOCKBUSTER, OR TRAVEL AGENCIES, PHONE BOOKS, TYPE WRITERS, PHONE BOOTHS, ETC.
THESE ARE OUT DATED AND PAST. PAST HAS TO BE LET GO OF IN ORDER TO TO MOVE FORWARD.
WHAT ARE YOU HOLDING ONTO THAT PREVENTS YOU FROM MOVING FORWARD? Beliefs about you, others, what? What are you afraid of to let go of so you can move forward?
“Brothers and sisters, I do not consider that I have made it my own yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead,”
Philippians 3:13 AMP
Remember the story of Lot and his wife. God told them to leave Sodom and Gomorrah and never look back. Their life would end if they did. Lot’s wife did and she turned into a pillar of salt. Don’t look back, don’t go back, let what is behind you go. Let it go to being your past and turn your back on your past and move forward into what God has for you.
You have to have something to reach forward or you won’t let go. What is in front of you has to been more special to you for you to let go. That tells me that most people who choose not let go of their past believe the past was their best so they hold onto it. No future holding on to your past. Your past is dragged into your future.
THAT’S ALL FOLKS.
“Even a rock moves on.”
“Holding on is believing that there’s only a past; letting go is knowing that there’s a future.”
“Letting go does not mean you stop caring. It means you stop trying to force others to.”
“Forget what hurt you but never forget what it taught you.”
“Life moves forward. The old leaves wither, die and fall away, and the new growth extends forward into the light.”
“We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we’re curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.”
“Letting go doesn’t mean that you don’t care about someone anymore. It’s just realizing that the only person you really have control over is yourself.”
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses [who by faith have testified to the truth of God’s absolute faithfulness], stripping off every unnecessary weight and the sin which so easily and cleverly entangles us, let us run with endurance and active persistence the race that is set before us,”
Hebrews 12:1 AMP
