Leave It, Keep It

Sermon Notes

I was praying and these words kept flashing in my mind. Like old to new, down to up, broken to fixed, sick to healed, end to beginning, past to future, sad to joy, mad to glad, broke to wealth, selfish to servant, fear to faith.

All of the words represent moving from one place, a not so good place to a much better place. Anytime God moves His People He allows us to get things in order or get prepared.

If God is to do a new thing then we have to get rid of some old things.

This is what I heard God say to me: What to take, what to leave, and what I need to exit and enter a new place.

The day after Christmas Pastor Yvonne started taking down the decorations. She started packing them and storing them back in storage till next year. Christmas has passed and now we most move forward.

I remember going to Falicidy’s house and Daisy was up cleaning her room out. Getting rid of clothes, toys things that their time had come to be donated or given away. She was cleaning, clearing, getting rid of to make room for the new.

This is our last Sunday in the year 2019. We are about to enter 2020. It has been named 2020 and many have spoken of 2020 as clear, perfect vision.

The word I kept hearing in my spirit was not change but transformation. There are things in us and things about us and things around us that must be left in 2019 and not be carried over in your 2020.

Change is not constant nor permanent. Come January 1st many people will make New Years resolutions they will change. About March they will change back because the changes were not permanent nor lasting. Change many times is based on situations and circumstances. We get a little progress and it is so easy to slip back into old habits and mindsets.

Transformation is from the inside out. A caterpillar when it transforms can not go back and become a caterpillar.

Change, something happens tragic people run to church looking for Gods help. Change, He helps they slowly slide away from God back to patterns of old living. The living that drove them to run to God in the first place. This is cycle of stuck.

“Then Jesus asked, “Were not ten [of you] cleansed? Where are the [other] nine?”
Luke 17:17 AMP

Only one person came back to thank Him and worship him. The 9 had a different mindset. This one had transformation the others just had a change. They got what they wanted, but their mind was still stuck on them.

The worship of self is very difficult. What I want, what I think, me , me it’s got to be all about me. Me many times gets in the way of God.

Most of our mistakes are when we begin to follow our words and thoughts and not Gods Word.

We have mindsets or mindstuck, attitudes, beliefs that do not serve us nor will they help us. We must become aware of these things and see them, realize them and then get rid of them and replace them.

Fear will never let you crossover and be blessed. Fear wants to keep you down. Fear wants to keep controlling you. Fear wants to destroy your destiny. Fear will keep you stuck and you will live frustrated and angry but you have a choice.

Remember, the saying, “it is impossible for you to expect different results if you keep doing the same things.” If you keep doing the same things the same way you get the same results.

Change or transformation. There are only really two ways to experience this transformation. One is repetition this doing doing over and over and over till it becomes apart of your life. The other is something traumatic, like when I had the stroke. It took no real effort to change my lifestyle. I wanted to live so I choose to eat what is best for me to live. I exercise regular and consistently. I choose to manage stress and not let it control me. I eat to live not I live to eat. Food is fuel to me not something i run to fell good or comfort me.

I tried to change so many times. I tried to loose weight so many times. But really it was not a lifestyle. It was just a change that did not move into transformation. It was a change that kept changing back and forth.

“Do not remember the former things, Or ponder the things of the past. Listen carefully, I am about to do a new thing, Now it will spring forth; Will you not be aware of it? I will even put a road in the wilderness, Rivers in the desert.”
Isaiah 43:18-19 AMP

“Forget about what’s happened; don’t keep going over old history. Be alert, be present. I’m about to do something brand-new. It’s bursting out! Don’t you see it? There it is! I’m making a road through the desert, rivers in the badlands.“
Isaiah 43:18-19 MSG

“But forget all that— it is nothing compared to what I am going to do. For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.”
Isaiah 43:18-19 NLT

This is our greatest battle in moving forward. People hold onto the past events, memories, good and bad. The truth is you can’t move forward holding onto things in the past. Victories as well as failures if they are past they are past, let them pass.

We try to hold onto our greatest times. But you can’t move forward if you do.
Do not remember the former things, or ponder the things of the past, why? You will compare and compare till you make yourself believe that the past is so much better than your future.

When Moses and God was trying to lead Israel out of bondage from Egypt, they kept looking back, talking back, thinking back till they kept crying to go back. God can not lead a man till he makes up his mind which way he is wanting to go.

Jesus says follow me and turns and walks, it is up to you if you want to go His direction. He will not force you nor will He make you. Someone said, “if it is Gods Will He will do it.” No, not necessarily, He says choose, obey, trust me and follow me. If you obey God you get Obedience results. If you disobey you get disobedience results.

“Clean living before God and justice with our neighbors mean far more to GOD than religious performance.”
Proverbs 21:3 MSG

“To do righteousness and justice Is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice [for wrongs repeatedly committed].”
Proverbs 21:3 AMP

BE ALERT, BE PRESENT AND LISTEN CAREFULLY.

FORGET WHAT IS THE PAST. GET YOUR LIFE FORWARD FOCUS. PROGRESS IS IN FRONT OF US NOT BEHIND US. WHAT IS BEHIND YOU IS TO DISTRACT YOU AND KEEP YOU STUCK.

GOD SAYS BE ALERT, BE PRESENT, AND LISTEN CAREFULLY. YOU CAN NOT DO ANY OF THESE THINGS HOLDING AND LIVING IN THE PAST, GOOD OR NOT SO GOOD.

THERE IS AN AWARENESS GOD IS CALLING US TO. I REMEMBER WHEN I WAS A YOUNG MAN AND I GOT STATIONED ON AN AIRCRAFT CARRIER. THEY DRILLED THESE THREE AND A FEW OTHERS INTO ME AND OTHERS. I WORKED ON THE FLIGHT DECK CONSIDERED ONE OF THE MOST DANGEROUS WORKING ENVIRONMENTS IN THE WORLD. I DID IT FOR A YEAR.

NUMBER ONE RULE YOU CAN NOT STAY IN THE SAME PLACE FOR MORE THAN 5 SECONDS. YOU HAD TO KEEP MOVING IN AND AND OUT AND AROUND. NO ONE WAS JUST STANDING STILL.

GOD SAYS HE IS DOING A NEW THING: HE SAYS RIVERS IN THE DESERT ROADS IN THE WILDERNESS. I AM GOING TO PUT WHAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE THERE BUT ITS NOT NATURAL. IT WILL HAVE TO BE SUPERNATURAL.

NEW THING IN OLD PLACES. THE DESERT WAS ALWAYS THERE, BUT THE RIVER WAS NOT.

THERE ARE THINGS HAT HAVE NOT BEEN IN YOUR LIFE BUT GOD IS SAYING I AM DOING A NEW THING. WHAT NEW THING IS NEEDED IN YOUR LIFE?

What new thing could you use in your life?

A road in the wilderness? There is no road there yet, but God.

“The LORD gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they gave them what they asked. And so they plundered the Egyptians [of those things].”
Exodus 12:36 AMP

“The Lord caused the Egyptians to look favorably on the Israelites, and they gave the Israelites whatever they asked for. So they stripped the Egyptians of their wealth!”
Exodus 12:36 NLT
