Sermon Notes

We just finished up ThanksGiving. With all the food and family and Jesus.

Today is the first of December. We had Black Friday shoppers all in larger historic numbers. On line shoppers spent 5.4billion dollars. Historic.

We see December as the Christmas Season.

This movie It’s a Wonderful life is a great reminder of what really matters in this life. We watch it ever year around this time. What really matters, God, Eternity, living, family, friends, health, caring, compassion etc.

George Bailey is the main character and gives up his dream to travel the world when his dad dies to take over his fathers business. It was a savings and loan in the small town where they lived. There was another banker who was greedy and was hated by everyone, but he was the richest man in the town.

Through the unfortunate events George’s uncle lost all the cash for there deposit which basically put them out of business. Mister Potter the rich, greedy, hateful banker found the money but did not return the money.
George went out and had a few to many drinks and could not see anyway out, so he walks to the bridge and thinks about jumping and killing himself in the freezing winter river.

Harry an angel who does not have his wings is sent to help George to discover hope, reason to live and to value his life. If Harry succeeds he gets his wings.

I believe it is Gods Desire we all have and live A WONDERFUL LIFE.

To understand this we need to find out what is a WONDERFUL LIFE.

“The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows].”
John 10:10 AMP

Message Bible: “A thief is only there to steal and kill and destroy. I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of.”

“The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.”
John 10:10 NLT

Jesus speaks of this wonderful life as multifaceted life. It is described as “to Have and Enjoy life, and have it in abundance-to the full till it overflows.

This wonderful life can and must be had and you must enjoy it. This wonderful life can be real and is a gift from our God. It is supposedly we are to have it in abundance which means to the full, till it overflows.

What is this wonderful life? To have and enjoy life. Have it in abundance to the full till it overflows. Real and eternal life, more and better than you have ever dreamed of. Rich and satisfying life.

Wow. If we could really get that in our spirit then we would not settle for less or except the thief’s lies. It is your Gods Desire for you and yours to have a wonderful life.

“But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right—the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also.”
Matthew 6:33 AMP

So many people are seeking and striving to create a wonderful life but many chase after the results or fruit of a wonderful life, but miss the mark of a truly wonderful life. The wonderful life is not in the fruit but the roots or beginnings

Jesus gave us the instructions but we all realize most don’t read the instructions, we just look for the picture and try to make it from memory and our own intelligence.

Yesterday was thanksgiving yet so many family’s had arguments and disagreements and dissension. Yet it is supposed to be about thanks and giving which results in giving thanks.

A beautiful house does not make a beautiful home, all the stuff you could ever want does create a beautiful life.

You can’t buy a wonderful life, you can’t cheat your way into a wonderful life, you can’t lie your way into a wonderful life. You can’t wish your way into a wonderful life.

Jesus said it, “First and most importantly seek(AIM AT- STRIVE AFTER) HIS KINGDOM AND HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS.

SEEK IS A POWERFUL WORD: : to go in search of : look for : to try to discover.

God is not lost so we are not playing hid and seek. The lesson of seeking begins with learning how to seek. It is not with your eyes or your understanding. Jesus said to seek His Kingdom and His Righteousness.

Remember who we create or put together things. We skip the instructions and just look at the picture and use our eyes and intellect. It will not come out quit right and you have extra parts that are not where they should be.

The roots of a wonderful life are His Kingdom. When you go to a Kingdom you seek out the King. You must get entrance into the presence of the King or get an audience with the King.

The King is our father.

“Therefore let us [with privilege] approach the throne of grace [that is, the throne of God’s gracious favor] with confidence and without fear, so that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find [His amazing] grace to help in time of need [an appropriate blessing, coming just at the right moment].”
Hebrews 4:16 AMP

With Privilege: means we are family in relationship to the King and His Kingdom.
The relationship allows us to go before our King in confidence and without fear.

George in the movie had lost hope. He felt he lost everything and let everyone down that he cared about. So he contemplates suicide.

The scriptures says we walk or live out our life by faith, not by sight. When you live by sight you will not create a wonderful life. You will only feel happy when things seem good and sad and mad when things don’t feel good.

George did not see what he really had and what was really the wonderful life. He seen only what he could see in the reality. Reality is not really the real, it is only what we see. There is another realm where reality is second to and it is called THE KINGDOM OF GOD.

The Wonderful Life you must seek aim and strive for Jesus and His Kingdom. His way of doing and being right. This is a Jesus Life which is the wonderful life.

Many people will not understand this kind of life. There is spiritual and there is carnal. The Bible says the flesh and spirit war against each other.

George Bailey was in the carnal side of life, he was depressed, he was defeated, he was hopeless, he was selfish, he was ready to give up and quit to end his life.

John 10;10 The thief comes only to steal, kill and destroy.

He does not have the authority to kill you physically.

A THIEVES PLAN.
NOT GET CAUGHT.
STEAL WHAT IS MOST VALUABLE
KILL YOUR FAITH, HOPES AND DREAMS
DESTROY ANY EVIDENCE LINKING TO HIM THE THIEF.

The thief is have your relationship with the king. To steal your hope and trust in your king. To get you away from the king and kingdom. His goal is to separate you from your King and His Kingdom.

You and I are heirs to the Kingdom. Power, resources, authority is entitled to us as heirs.

“And because you [really] are [His] sons, God has sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying out, “Abba! Father!” Therefore you are no longer a slave (bond-servant), but a son; and if a son, then also an heir through [the gracious act of] God [through Christ].”
Galatians 4:6-7 AMP

5. To steal your ID identity. If the enemy can get you, people to believe they are not worthy, they are not special, they are not loved, the enemy can steal their ID.

Why the saying misery loves company. The thief can never have a wonderful life so is existence it to steal, kill and destroy as many wonderful lives as he can.

Close your doors.

“The kingdom of heaven is like a [very precious] treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid again; then in his joy he goes and sells all he has and buys that field [securing the treasure for himself].”
Matthew 13:44 AMP
