Your Identity Is The Answer To Everything

SERMON NOTES

Your understanding of who you are positions you for success or failure, more than any other thing.

You will never rise above the image you have of yourself in your heart. True Identity allows you to see yourself bigger than your problems.

Paul uses the phrase IN HIM OR IN CHRIST THIS IS HOW GOD VIEWS YOU, NOT ON YOUR MERIT BUT ON HIS MERIT. ITS LEARNING TO OPERATE THROUGH HIS FINISHED WORK.

“Therefore if anyone is in Christ [that is, grafted in, joined to Him by faith in Him as Savior], he is a new creature [reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit]; the old things [the previous moral and spiritual condition] have passed away. Behold, new things have come [because spiritual awakening brings a new life].”
2 CORINTHIANS 5:17

This means having a new spiritual DNA. Your past does not dictate your future. Old person is gone. The old way of seeing yourself and everyone else is over. Get used of the NEW YOU IN CHRIST.

How you see you, how you feel about God and how you feel He feels about you creates. Many people do not receive from God because they have not grasped How much He loves them. When you realize and receive Gods love, grace, righteousness, and identity, transformation will take place within you and your life.

HOW YOU SEE GOD AND HOW YOU SEE YOURSELF DETERMINE HOW YOU EXPERIENCE GOD. IF YOU SEE HIM AS SOMEONE YOU CAN NEVER PLEASE OR MEASURE UP TO, THIS IS HOW YOU WILL EXPERIENCE HIM. IF YOU SEE HIM JUDGEMENT, THIS IS HOW YOU WILL EXPERIENCE HIM. IF YOU SEE HIM THROUGH THE EYES OF YOUR TRUE IDENTITY, THIS IS HOW YOU WILL EXPERIENCE HIM.

YOUR IDENTITY IN CHRIST: IS KNOWING WHO GOD IS, WHAT HE HAS ALREADY DONE, AND WHO HE HAS MADE YOU TO BE.

1. KNOW WHO GOD IS: many know about Him, but they do not know Him. Call to Intimacy with God.

2. KNOW WHAT HE HAS ALREADY DONE: Stop trying to get God to do what He has already done and receive what He did by grace through faith.

3. KNOW WHO HE HAS MADE YOU TO BE: You are who the Word of God says you are. Your identity in Christ means God has positioned you to be the same in quality as Christ.

God tells us about our Identity in the Bible:

2 Corinthians 5:17 “New Creation” Being Born Again does not mean we are a better us— it means we are new and distinct.

Galatians 2:20. “I am crucified with Christ” This Word empowers you.

1 John 4:9. “God showed His love for us” It is more important that we live through Him rather than for Him.

EPHESIANS 1:2. “Grace to you and peace [inner calm and spiritual well-being] from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.”

God has given us GRACE (unmerited favor, the finished work of Christ, Divine Influence on the heart, empowerment or ability) and PEACE (to be unmoved by your circumstances).
WHAT GRACE GIVES, PEACE KEEPS.

EPHESIANS 1:3. “Blessed and worthy of praise be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms in Christ,”
God gave you spiritual blessings. Spiritual means SuperNatural. Blessings means benefit, bounty or empowerment. God has already provided for us every supernatural provision for our success. Like the book, “WE are wired for success, but programmed for failure”.

As you overcome your self-limiting beliefs God will launch you to great success. Where? In the Heavenly Realm. This is the Kingdom of God. Everything you and I need to succeed is already been placed in the Kingdom by grace, unmerited by you, to access by faith. Jesus finished it all at Calvary. This is the finished work of Christ.

The term SALVATION in Greek means: to save, rescue, safety, deliver, heal, health, prosper, to do well, to make whole, preserve. Point: you already have access to every supernatural benefit for success through Christ’s finished work.

“And you are complete in Him.”
Colossians 2:10

Complete means whole, entire, finished, lacking in nothing.

“And my God shall supply ALL YOUR NEEDS according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:19

Christs finished work has provided a supply in this Kingdom for every need to be met in our lives.

The challenge is what Kingdom will operate your life from. The Kingdom of God or kingdom of man. Supernatural or natural.

The key is to not let your environment, authority figures, your self-image, repetitious information, or your circumstances and experiences cause you give up WHO YOU ARE IN CHRIST JESUS YOUR IMAGE.

“Be doers of the Word and not just hearers.”
James 1:22-24

The key is do it Now.

The parable of the sower. The seed is the Word and the soil is the heart. If we do not allow the Word to get into our heart (hearers only), the Bible says the man forgets who he is. He forgets everything about himself. He looses sight of his identity. The things of the world rob us of our true identity.
Matthew 13:1-23

HERE IS WHAT ALL THIS MEANS. WE UNDERSTAND OUR SPIRITUAL IDENTITY THROUGH OUR KNOWLEDGE OF HIM- WHO GOD IS, AND WHAT HE HAS ALREADY DONE FOR US, AND WHO HE HAS MADE US TO BE.

IF YOU DON’T EMBRACE YOUR SPIRITUAL IDENTITY THE WORD SAYS YOUR SPIRITUAL IDENTITY LIVES IN LIKE BLINDNESS OR AMNESIA.

THINK IF YOU DON’T EMBRACE THESE TRUTHS YOU WILL LIVE OUTSIDE OF ALL HE HAS FOR YOU. YOU WILL STRUGGLE, AND WANDER NEVER KNOWING REALLY ALL THAT HE HAS FOR YOU.

STAVING AND YET GOD HAS A GIANT FOOD STORE FOR YOU AND YOURS.

SICK AND YET GOD HAS A GIANT HOSPITAL FOR YOU AND YOURS.

LONELY AND YET GOD HAS A GIANT LOVING FAMILY FOR YOU AND YOURS.

SO TIRED AND YET GOD HAS A GIANT VACATION DESTINATION FOR YOU AND YOURS.

THINK GODS PEOPLE LIVED AS SLAVES BECAUSE THEY HEARD THE WORD BUT THEY DID NOT DO IT. THEY HEARD OF FAITH, BUT DID NOT DO IT. THEY HEARD OF LOVE AND OBEDIENCE BUT THEY DID NOT DO IT. ABUNDANCE AND WEALTH HUGE AMOUNTS AND YET PEOPLE CHOOSE TO BE SELFISH, FEARFUL, GREEDY.

IDENTITY: THE ANSWERS TO EVERYTHING

Knowing our identity is having an understanding of who we are in Christ in our hearts. Heart beliefs create identity.

INFORMATION + EMOTIONS + CONSISTENCY = HEART BELIEFS.

When significant information is coupled with emotions consistently, this causes belief in your heart. IT IS SO SAD THAT MOST OF THIS IS DONE AUTOMATICALLY IN OUR NATURAL SIDE. THIS IS WHY FEAR, DOUBT, UNBELIEF, IS SO STRONG.
NO THOUGHT HAS MEANING UNTIL YOU ATTACH SIGNIFICANCE TO IT.

Our experience is not based on what happens to us; it is based on our interpretation of what happens to us (attitude) and how it causes us to see ourselves.

Unless you create positive emotions with new thinking, it is nearly impossible to overcome negative feelings. This is when old habitual thinking comes back. It is why so many believers loose sight of who they really are.

Create the New You. It is a call to break the reign of self-limiting beliefs and awaken to your God -given identity. God-given identity allows you to see yourself bigger than your problems.

COLOSSIANS 3:1-3. “Therefore if you have been raised with Christ [to a new life, sharing in His resurrection from the dead], keep seeking the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind and keep focused habitually on the things above [the heavenly things], not on things that are on the earth [which have only temporal value]. For you died [to this world], and your [new, real] life is hidden with Christ in God.”

REVELATION: IF YOU HAVE BEEN RAISED WITH CHRIST TO A NEW LIFE, YOU SEEK THE THINGS THAT ARE ABOVE. NOTICE THE DIRECTION, ABOVE. IN THE SPIRITUAL REALM, THE KINGDOM REALM.
Verse 2, SET YOUR HEART (MIND) the word set means to have understanding, to feel, to think, to have an opinion of one’s self, think of one’s self, to set one’s opinion, to cherish the same view, to be harmonious, and to look.

1. SET YOUR HEARTS: have understanding of who you are and what His Kingdom provides in your heart.

2. SET YOUR MIND ON THINGS ABOVE, NOT ON THINGS ON THE EARTH: Renew and set your minds not on circumstances and experiences (facts) but set your minds on the unseen truths of the Kingdom of God.

“So we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which
are unseen; for the things which are visible are temporal [just brief and fleeting], but the things which are invisible are everlasting and imperishable.”

2 Corinthians 4:18

When what you see in the unseen is more evident to you in your heart, then what you see in the seen, the unseen will dominate the seen. Practice, Meditate the unseen you are believing for.

3. DIE TO SELF: Submit everything in your view and opinion that doesn’t line up to His Word, to His view and opinion.

4. UNDERSTAND, YOU ARE HIDDEN IN CHRIST: you can come anytime to God with boldness and confidence to receive.

5. CHRIST IS YOUR LIFE: HE IS IN YOU AND YOU ARE IN HIM. THIS IS DIVINE RELATIONSHIP. NOT A SUNDAY EVENT.

INTENTIONAL LIVING IN CHRIST.
