When we hear the word mess what do think, see, feel? I think out of order, messy, chaos, stressful.
Word mess means: a disordered, untidy, offensive, or unpleasant state or condition: one that is disordered, untidy, offensive, or unpleasant usually because of blundering, laxity, or misconduct.
Synonyms: chaos, confusion, disarrangement, disarray, disorder, disorganization, free-for-all, havoc, hell, jumble, messiness, misorder, muddle, muss, shambles, snake pit.
Many times in life we so identify with this word. Mess in our emotions, mess in our homes, mess in our relationships, mess in the way see ourselves, mess in our finances, mess when we look at our physical selves, mess, mess, mess when we look in the mirror.
Mess is just a word that we put meaning too. WE all have messes in our lives but that is not the end of the story.
It’s like looking at my bedroom. The bed is not made, the bathroom sinks are covered with stuff, clothes on the floor, so it looks a mess. It looks a mess, but really it can be cleaned, it can be put in order.
We have to be careful we go not get stuck in the mess that we forget or don’t realize we have the power to to change the bedroom. We have the power to change the messes.
How you see and view it will be how you respond to it. If you see the messes in your life as so much, to big, impossible to change you will not face it, you will run from it or deny it or worse just except it and choose to live in it.
Gods people when they were enslaved in Egypt God hears their cry’s for Freedom. God sends Moses to speak, “Let my people go.” Remember Charlton Heston in the movie.
The whole time they had trouble believing, changing, leaving, and then wanting to go back to the mess because they way the viewed and seen their lives, the challenges, the fears.
I have had so many messes in my life but I got such a freedom when someone shared to me, the focus of God is not my mess but my message. Did i get a message out of my mess. God sees your life as the school of life. You are in School and the messes will teach you things. They will show you were you lack. The will show what you have overcome and where you still need to be climbing over.
Messes are to educate you.
Have you said or heard someone say, “I am just a mess.” LIER, lier, lier pants on fire. YOU ARE NOT A MESS. You are dealing with a mess. You might be in a messy situation, but you are not a mess. Life might be a bit messy for you right now but you are not a mess.
“For we are His workmanship [His own master work, a work of art], created in Christ Jesus [reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used] for good works, which God prepared [for us] beforehand [taking paths which He set], so that we would walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us].”
EPHESIANS 2:10 AMP
Who are we if we are a mess?
We are His workmanship. His own master work. A work of art.
THIS IS WHO YOU ARE PERIOD. YOU ARE NOT YOUR DIVORCE, YOU ARE NOT YOUR BANKRUPTCY, YOU ARE NOT YOUR FAILURES, YOU ARE NOT YOUR HURTS AND PAIN AND LOSSES. YOU ARE NOT THE BETRAYALS AND ABUSES.
WE ALL GO THROUGH MESSY TIMES BUT WE ARE NOT WHAT WE GO THRU. WE ARE HIS MASTERPIECE. HIS OWN WORK. YOU ARE HIS WORK OF ART.
WHEN YOU LOOK SOME FIRST STARTING TO PAINT OR MOLD A SCULPTURE IT DOES NOT LOOK GOOD. IT DOES NOT EVEN LOOK GOOD. IT IS IN PROCESS OR PRODUCTION STAGES. IT LOOKS A MESS IN THE BEGINNING.
Illustration with clay before and after.
“Yet, O LORD, You are our Father; We are the clay, and You our Potter, And we all are the work of Your hand.”
We are the clay GOD IS THE POTTER. The challenges is when the clay tries to be the potter and mold and make itself. The only thing we really can make is a mess if we do not allow our lives to stay on GOD’S POTTERY WHEEL.
IF I KNOW AND BELIEVE HE IS MY POTTER AND I AM HIS CLAY HE IS MAKING ME INTO SOMETHING USEFUL, POWERFUL, SUCCESSFUL, PERFECT, BEAUTIFUL FOR HIS PURPOSE. GOD DOES NOT MAKE MISTAKES.
YOU ARE A WORK OF ART. A MASTERPIECE. CREATED IN CHRIST JESUS.
“created in Christ Jesus [reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used] for good works, which God prepared [for us] beforehand [taking paths which He set]”
This is the process and production of His Masterpiece, YOU.
WHY SUCH A PAINFUL PROCESS. THE CLAY IS HARD AND DRIED AND HAS TO BE MADE PLIABLE. THIS IS WHERE HE TAKES YOUR MESS AND BEGINS TO SQUEEZE AND ROLL AND STRETCH. OVER AND OVER HE DOES THIS AND HAS TO ADD SOME WATER OVER AND OVER TO MAKE YOU SOFT AND PLIABLE. THIS IS THE PROCESS BEFORE THE SHAPING BEGINS.
READY TO BE USED FOR GOOD WORKS. GOD IS PREPARING YOU FOR GOOD THINGS. GOOD PROJECTS. GOOD LIFE. GOOD RELATIONSHIPS. GOOD SERVICE.
“I will give thanks and praise to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well.”
“And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose.”
