The Power of Motherhood

Today is Mother’s Day. The day we choose to celebrate mothers.

25% of all the flowers bought for the whole year will be on this celebration of Mother’s Day.

$14 Billion is spent on Mother’s Day gifts and celebrations.

We don’t don’t realize how hard and challenging it is to be a mother today. We want to celebrate Moms because you are Amazing.

World’s toughest job. Video first. (https://youtu.be/HB3xM93rXbY)

If we were looking at this as a job no one in their right mind would take the job, yet thank God for all the moms who do. In our culture many moms have to work a secular job and be mother. We also have Mother’s who also have to act as Fathers. We also have Grandmothers who have to be mothers.

Your job, a heart calling is not easy but we all of us would not be here if it we had no Mother’s.

Hear from a few children what they think is so special about their moms.

Illustrated Messages from children.

I would like to say to my mom, I love you and truly appreciate you and all you ever did to help me become who I am today. God healed our relationship. I never really appreciated my mom and her motherhood. God showed me and healed me which healed our relationship.

Mother’s are not perfect but they do the best they can with what they got. As humans we all are a little broken but the love of Mothers can see us through. I was a rough and at times tuff father but my wife was a mother. She prayed, took care of our children. I remember coming here to Phoenix to start the church and I had to go to work and she would have to walk Falicidy to school because we did not have another car. Yvonne would teach them about God and faith. When they would get hurt Yvonne the Mom was there to hold them, bandage them, sing to them.

I read something that I never seen before with Jesus and his mother.

“So the soldiers did these things. But standing by the cross of Jesus were His mother, His mother’s sister [ Salome], Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.”
JOHN 19:25

Here are 4 women who are standing at the cross while Jesus is hanging on the cross dying.

His mother is there at this challenging time. I have found that most mom find a way to help, to care for, do for their children.

“So Jesus, seeing His mother, and the disciple whom He loved (esteemed) standing near, said to His mother, “[Dear] woman, look, [here is] your son!””
JOHN 19:26

There’s all kinds of people hanging around the cross and yet who does Jesus see.

He sees His mother. The woman who carried him for 9 months. He sees the woman who sang songs in the night to put him to sleep. He sees the woman who loved Him and protected Him. He sees the woman who would clean and care for and feed him. He sees the woman who would worship and praise God for Him. He sees the woman who sacrificed and gave so He could be He he was supposed to be.

His mother and John the beloved his disciple is standing near. Jesus begins to speak and Jesus says, “Dear woman, look, here is your son.” I read and read and read Jesus is not talking about himself.

Jesus loves His mom so much look what he does. All that she sowed into His life, she would reap. He took care of His mother. Jesus loved and took care of His mother.

“Then He said to the disciple (John), “Look! [here is] your mother

!” From that hour the disciple took her into his own home.”
JOHN 19:27

VERSE 26 Jesus says, “Dear woman, look here is your son.” He is not talking of himself. He is making sure His mother is taken care of.

Then Jesus says in verse 27 Jesus speaks to John his disciple, “Look here is your mother PROTECT AND PROVIDE FOR HER.

PROTECT AND PROVIDE FOR HER. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT SHE DID FOR JESUS AND THE REST OF HER SIBLINGS. JESUS WAS MAKING SURE HIS MOM WAS TAKEN CARE OF BECAUSE SHE TOOK CARE OF HIM ALL THE WAY TO THE END.

PROTECT AND PROVIDE: JESUS SAYS MOM HERE IS YOUR SON, JOHN HERE IS YOUR MOTHER PROTECT AND PROVIDE FOR HER.

JOHN LOVED JESUS SO MUCH, JOHN LOVED MARY SO MUCH, BECAUSE GOD IS LOVE. A MOTHERS LOVE, THE CHILDS LOVE FOR HIS MOTHER EVEN AS ADULTS. LOVE IS POWERFUL AND REAL.

RESULTS: FROMT THAT HOUR THE DISCIPLE TOOK HERE INTO HIS OWN HOME.

“A gracious and good woman attains honor, And ruthless men attain riches [but not respect].”
PROVERBS 11:16

THE WORD HONOR MEANS IN HEBREW SPLENDOR , COPIOUSNESS.

Splendor means : great and impressive beauty
: things that are very beautiful or impressive

Copiousness means abundant, wealth, power, more than sufficient, very plentiful.

“For You formed my innermost parts; You knit me [together] in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks and praise to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well.”
PSALMS 139:13-14

MOTHERS CARRY LIFE AND BRING LIFE INTO THE WORLD. WONDERFUL WE ARE BECAUSE OF GOD AND MOTHERS. THANK YOU.
