SERMON NOTES

“Now thanks be to God for His indescribable gift [which is precious beyond words]!”
2 CORINTHIANS 9:15 AMP

GIFT:
1. something given voluntarily without payment in return, as to show favor toward someone, honor an occasion, or make a gesture of assistance; present.
2. the act of giving.
3. something bestowed or acquired without any particular effort by the recipient
or without its being earned.

It starts out talking about this Amazing gift God gave to us. Jesus was the gift first given to us by God.
God is the first Giver of Gifts to us. To give your son is described as indescribable.
We are looking at gifts to the Savior. God gave us this great example of Giving. His gift was birth out of a deep love for us.

His gift was a sacrificial gift, it cost a life.

His gift was not a token or cheap.

God set the example.

There is a story in the Word at the birth of Christ. It is about some men who were called, “Magi” wise men. King Herod used them to learn of this king being born. He sent them and told them when they see the child to let him know where he was so he could come and worship too.

“When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy. And after entering the house, they saw the Child with Mary His mother; and they fell down and worshiped Him. Then, after opening their treasure chests, they presented to Him gifts [fit for a king, gifts] of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. And having been warned [by God] in a dream not to go back to Herod, the magi left for their own country by another way.”
MATTHEW 2:10-12 AMP

Magi was wise men. Astrologers or scientist wise and very smart guys. They knew the prophecy and all the details of the coming Christ. So they traveled to find the child king and was supposed to report back to King Herod. He was angry and wanted to kill the Christ child king.

They find Jesus. When they say the star they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy. Remember Joy is an inside spiritual movement that moves from inside of you because of what and who you believe in. Not happy, happy is created by things and stuff remember people go up and down with happiness, no, this is JOY.

They entered the house, stable, where He is is not the important thing. They had to enter. Many people live outside of the King Jesus. This is religion, doing for, but not being with. Relationship is when you enter in, within get close. They did the Magi wise men, they rejoiced and danced around on their feet but when they entered the realm of Holy of Holies they FELL DOWN AND WORSHIPED HIM.

THEY SEARCHED FOR JESUS. IT COST THEM TIME, ENERGY, TO LOCATE JESUS. THEY REJOICED EXCEEDING WITH GREAT JOY.
THEY ENTERED INTO THE PLACE WHERE JESUS IS.

WHEN THEY WERE INSIDE AND SAY JESUS, IN HIS PRESENCE THEY FELL DOWN AND WORSHIPED HIM.
THEN, SAY THEN, THEY OPENED THIER TREASURE CHEST.

TREASURE: wealth (such as money, jewels, or precious metals) stored up or hoarded wealth of any kind or in any form : RICHES something of great worth or value.

Revelation: Many people have the biggest struggle giving money to God. Tithes God says to bring into His church and give 10% and plus offerings. Really it has nothing to do with money.

“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
LUKE 12:34 AMP

TREASURE AND HEART ARE CONNECTED. THE WISE MEN OPENED THEIR HEART FIRST TO JESUS LONG BEFORE THEY OPENED THEIR TREASURE CHEST.

JESUS WILL NEVER FORCE YOUR TREASURE CHEST OPEN BECAUSE HE WILL NOT FORCE YOU TO OPEN YOUR HEART TO HIM.

“AND YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL (life), AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND (thought, understanding), AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH.’ This is the second: ‘YOU SHALL [unselfishly] LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.””
MARK 12:30-31 AMP

COMMAND IS TO LOVE GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, SOUL, MIND, STRENGTH. THEN YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.
MONEY, STUFF, SELFISHNESS, NOT CARING ABOUT SOULS, OR HAVING COMPASSION FOR GODS PEOPLE AND SHUT UP, LOCKED UP,TREASURE CHEST IS BECAUSE UNTIL WE HAVE AN ENCOUNTER LIKE THE WISE MEN.

WISDOM, WISE MEN AND WOMEN OF GOD WANT GOD. THAT IS THE TREASURE AND THE SOURCE FOR PLENTY AND ABUNDANCE.

UNTIL GOD IS GIVEN YOUR HEART YOU WILL NEVER GIVE LIKE HE IS CALLING YOU TOO. UNTIL YOU GIVE JESUS YOUR HEART YOU WILL NEVER OPEN UP YOUR TREASURE TO HIM OR ANYONE ELSE.

This is why so many people know of God but only a few Know God. Many know the God that is taught but how many people know God.

Remember Jesus, He healed, filled, fed, miracles, on and on but only a few men and woman chose to follow Him and work and serve Him. The difference was the heart and relationship.

10 leper’s are healed but only one comes back to thank and worship Him. What the difference heart and relationship.
This is why people do not love as they should. They do not give as they should. This is why they do not care as they should. This is why they do not live as they should.

“Now, brothers and sisters, we want to tell you about the grace of God which has been evident in the churches of Macedonia [awakening in them a longing to contribute];”
2 CORINTHIANS 8:1 AMP

“for during an ordeal of severe distress, their abundant joy and their deep poverty [together] overflowed in the wealth of their lavish generosity.”
2 CORINTHIANS 8:2 AMP

“For I testify that according to their ability, and beyond their ability, they gave voluntarily,”
2 CORINTHIANS 8:3 AMP

“begging us insistently for the privilege of participating in the service for [the support of] the saints [in Jerusalem].”
2 CORINTHIANS 8:4 AMP

“Not only [did they give materially] as we had hoped, but first they gave themselves to the Lord and to us [as His representatives] by the will of God [disregarding their personal interests and giving as much as they possibly could].”
2 CORINTHIANS 8:5 AMP

They gave materially BUT FIRST THEY GAVE THEMSELVES TO THE LORD AND TO US AS HIS REPRESENTATIVES BY THE WILL OF GOD DISREGARDING THEIR PERSONAL INTEREST AND GIVING AS MUCH AS THEY POSSIBLE COULD.

THEIR TREASURE CHEST WAS OPENED FREELY BECAUSE THIER HEART AND LIFE WAS OPENED FIRST. THEY GAVE THEMSELVES FIRST TO GOD AND THEN TO THE SERVICE OF THE MINISTERS AND MINISTRIES.

“But just as you excel in everything, [and lead the way] in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in genuine concern, and in your love for us, see that you excel in this gracious work [of giving] also.”
2 CORINTHIANS 8:7 AMP

God gave Jesus as our gift for salvation and restoration of our relationship with God. Jesus chose to sacrifice His life for us so we could have eternal life with Him. We receive Christ as our Savior, we go to church, we might even give some money.

The fulfillment of this transition God gave, we received, but the real miracle the real change, the real test is what we give back to Him.

Many people look at all they give and all they do and say I do and give more than most. This is brain response not a heart voice.

So many doing Jesus life from the head and not the heart.

“There is the one who [generously] scatters [abroad], and yet increases all the more; And there is the one who withholds what is justly due, but it results only in want and poverty. The generous man [is a source of blessing and] shall be prosperous and enriched, And he who waters will himself be watered [reaping the generosity he has sown].”
PROVERBS 11:24-25 AMP

Heart or head one will lead and direct your life choices. One is God and the other is you.

“My son, give me your heart And let your eyes delight in my ways,”
PROVERBS 23:26 AMP

God does not ask for your heart in a trade for salvation. Salvation comes from confession and believing Jesus is who He is and did what He did for you and I. We receive salvation free gift by faith. After we are born again the Lord wants your heart. Now you are able to make the choice of the kind of life you want with God.

Some choose religion all on the outside and some fish and loaves.

Then there will be those who want more, I want to walk and talk and do life with The Lord.

“‘Those whom I [dearly and tenderly] love, I rebuke and discipline [showing them their faults and instructing them]; so be enthusiastic and repent [change your inner self–your old way of thinking, your sinful behavior–seek God’s will]. ~‘Behold, I stand at the door [of the church] and continually knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him (restore him), and he with Me.”
REVELATION 3:19-20 AMP
