SERMON NOTES

Our new series is Thanks & Giving which is about this time of Thanksgiving. You go to the
stores and the Christmas stuff is everywhere. The Christmas music is starting and the sales or
adds are being plastered everywhere on line and in your mailbox.

It is said that at about this time people become so overwhelmed and become filled with anxiety
and pressures about life. This is supposed to be a happy joyous time but for many its not.

Remember our theme scripture: 1 THESSALONIANS 5:18 AMP “in every situation [no matter
what the circumstances] be thankful and continually give thanks to God; for this is the will of
God for you in Christ Jesus.”

Just a reminder IN EVERY SITUATION NO MATTER WHAT THE CIRCUMSTANCES BE THANKFUL AND CONTINUALLY GIVE THANKS TO GOD; FOR THIS IS THE WILL OF GOD FOR YOU IN CHRIST JESUS.

This is not up for debate because of what you or someone else is going thru. Regardless of the
situation or circumstances we are commanded to BE THANKFUL NO MATTER WHAT, THIS IS
THE WILL OF GOD FOR YOU.

People will call me or contact me and I will ask them where have they been or what’s going on,
they will always start with, “You don’t know what I have been going thru or all the challenges
and oppositions I am going thru.”

The Bible’s says we will all have trials and challenges. They are allowed by God to strengthen
us, build our faith, empower us to become closer to our God.

I have seen that we all have two directions we can move when stuff happens. We can move
closer to God and the things of God or move further and further away from God and the things
of God.

A financial crises or health issue or marriage challenges or company or work pressures and
many other things are working to move us. The key is what direction will you allow the stresses
and pressures of life to move you.

“Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and
situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests
known to God.”

PHILIPPIANS 4:6 AMP

Why do we insist on telling the stories of our worries and challenges and attacks over and over
and over? I think some times we tell our stuff over and over to get human sympathy. We are
called to cover each other, but the real power is when we obey Gods Word.

Oh my God i am so stressed at work, this and this and this and this on and on we go. It’s one
thing if you come to someone and say can you agree with me in prayer for this and this to
happen because this is what I am dealing with. Do you see the difference? You will get two
different outcomes with these request.

Do not be anxious or worried about anything. Stooooooooooooooooop!

God is calling us to grow up in His Word and His Ways. We will either do what His Word says and get the Word Results or we will be anxious and worried.

Anxious means: 1. experiencing worry, unease, or nervousness, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome.

Anxious causes anxiety. This is when worried, nervous, fearful, distressed, worried sick, edgy,
etc….

I read this someone wrote about their life with Anxiety. Sometimes anxiety whispers to me
when I’m trying to sleep. It keeps my brain busy as I imagine every worst-case scenario for the
week, or what would happen if my closest loved ones passed away. It will play back every
embarrassing moment of my life or every time I said something stupid, just because.

The world calls it a mental illness. I believe it is a mind illness, but the world treats everything with drugs.

God says to not be anxious or worried about ANYTHING. IF WE MAKE THIS STAND TO DO WHAT GOD SAYS WE WILL RECEIVE WHAT HE HAS PROMISED.

Remember what Tim taught Friday night. He said we have favor on our person our physical
person. There is also a Favor Path. When we obey God and do as He says and follow His Word
and Ways we walk along going thru life on the Favor Path. This is where you are close to God.

You love God, serve God, pray to God, listen to God, live for God. Something happens and
God goes left and you choose to go right. You ever remember doing everything God said to do
and then something happens and you go right instead of staying close to God and going to
prayer and church. People get on the human path this is not the Favor Path and this Path they
Wander, lost no real direction just moving in fear, hurt, anger, or frustration. When you wander
you Wonder, not sure of things, this is where confusion is created wonder what the heck is
going wrong. When you Wander, you Wonder, then you Worry. This path is not the Favor Path,
this is the human path where you are guiding, leading your life. Circumstances and situations
are driving your life farther and farther into the Wander, Wonder, Worry Path.

Here is the skit with umbrellas. Have a few people come up with umbrellas and all happy but
storm is ragging and one of the people steps out from the group show the storm by
themselves and soon they drop their umbrella. They slowly go down to their knees and almost
faint but then the groups moves over to them and covers them till they get up again.

Remember the Favor Path was the Path Jesus chose for you. It’s not an easy path but where
Jesus is there is freedom, liberty, peace, power, hope, Joy, etc….

Point God says do not be Anxious or worried about Anything period. It’s a choice, you choose
God or human(fear) Path.

synony
ms:
worried, concerned, uneasy, apprehensive, fearful, perturbed,
troubled, bothered, disturbed, distressed, disquieted, fretful,
agitated, nervous, edgy, antsy, unquiet, on edge, tense,
overwrought, worked up, keyed up, jumpy, worried sick, with
one’s stomach in knots, with one’s heart in one’s mouth; More

If you do this Word then you will do this next step. If you do not then you probably wont do this
anyway. THIS IS WHERE YOU CHOOSE SPIRIT OR YOU.

Philippians 4:6 Anything leads to next step Everything. NO WORRIES, NO ANXIOUS SPIRIT
ONLY NOW I CAN STEP INTO LIFE CHANGING MY LIFE CHANGING PRAYER.

“Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and
situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests
known to God.”

PHILIPPIANS 4:6 AMP

From Anything to Everything.

BUT IN EVERYTHING EVERY CIRCUMSTANCES AND
SITUATIONS BY PRAYER AND PETITION WITH THANKSGIVING.
THIS IS SPIRIT PRAYER. NOT COMPLAINING, ANGERY, FRUSTRATED SELF, HUMAN, FLESH
PRAYING. THIS IS NOT PRAYER, THERE FOR DOES NOT CHANGE YOU, ANYTHING ELSE
FOR YOU.

WHEN I AM NOT ANXIOUS OR WORRIED ABOUT ANYTHING WE CAN STEP INTO THIS
PLACE WHERE GOD IS. THIS WHERE SUPERNATURAL, POWERFUL, LOVE, PEACE, FAITH,
HOPE, MIRACLES ARE.

MY PRAYERS AND PETITIONS ARE WITH THANKSGIVING. WITH THANKSGIVING
CONTINUE TO MAKE YOUR SPECIFIC REQUEST KNOWN TO GOD.

To God more than other people.

8 CONTRIBUTORS TO PEACE OF MIND

Duke University did a study on “peace of mind.” Factors found to contribute greatly to emotional
and mental stability are:

1. The absence of suspicion and resentment. Nursing a grudge was a major factor in
unhappiness.

2. Not living in the past. An unwholesome preoccupation with old mistakes and failures leads to
depression.

3. Not wasting time and energy fighting conditions you cannot change. Cooperate with life,
instead of trying to run away from it.

4. Force yourself to stay involved with the living world. Resist the temptation to withdraw and
become reclusive during periods of emotional stress.

5. Refuse to indulge in self-pity when life hands you a raw deal. Accept the fact that nobody gets
through life without some sorrow and misfortune.

6. Cultivate the old-fashioned virtues—love, humor, compassion and loyalty.

7. Do not expect too much of yourself. When there is too wide a gap between self-expectation
and your ability to meet the goals you have set, feelings of inadequacy are inevitable.

8. Find something bigger than yourself to believe in. Self-centered egotistical people score
lowest on any test for measuring happiness.

“And the peace of God [that peace which reassures the heart, that peace] which transcends all
understanding, [that peace which] stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus
[is yours]. Finally, believers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable and worthy of respect,
whatever is right and confirmed by God’s word, whatever is pure and wholesome, whatever is
lovely and brings peace, whatever is admirable and of good repute; if there is any excellence, if
there is anything worthy of praise, think continually on these things [center your mind on them,
and implant them in your heart]. The things which you have learned and received and heard and
seen in me, practice these things [in daily life], and the God [who is the source] of peace and
well-being will be with you.”
