Last week we spoke about God’s instructions for successful and prosperous life. It was all about following Gods instructions. We know that God wants His people blessed and prosperous and successful. Every Father wants His children to be so blessed.
“This Book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe and do according to all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely and have good success.”
Joshua 1:8 AMPC
This says the Book of the Law. When Joshua was given these instructions it was the Book of the Law. The difference is we know have the Book of Covenants, the Book of Instructions, the Book of Principles. God allowed it all to be put in book so we could have it for our instructions, like a Blue Print to build our lives from.
In Hebrew the word Meditate means to chant or speak over and over. The key to your actions and behavior is what you meditate on. The way to see what is in your heart is to listen to what comes out of your mouth over and over. You can see what someone is thinking and believing by what they say over and over. They are sharing with the you and the world what they are meditating on.
Depart—–to withdraw, cease, go back, remove, take away
Way—-a course of life, mode of action,
Prosperous—-to push forward, break out, go over, be profitable,
Good—-to be pleased, to satisfy a debt, accomplish, delight, favor,
Success—to occupy by driving out previous tenants, and possessing in their place, to seize, to ruin, cast out, consume, destroy, succeed utterly
There is a word we did not look up but here it is. It is the word Observe, that you may observe and do according to All that is written.
The word Observe in Hebrew Sha mar, which means to hedge about as with thorns, guard, to protect, attend to, take heed to self, save self.
Do. Means to make, accomplish, advance, be industrious,
According: Means the highest, above, over, the Highest, God, To Jehovah, Most High, To Ascend, be high. Rise Up.
All the powerful principles and precepts God has laid out for us. To meditate and speak over and over what God says for our lives.
If God be for us who can be against us. Greater is He that is in us than He that is in the world. My God shall never leave me nor forsake me. I am forgiven. Trust in the Lord with all your heart soul, mind and body. Do not be afraid, I will leave the Comforter who will teach you all things. My God shall supply all my needs according to His riches. I walk in faith and not my sight. I trust in the Lord with all my heart and i do not lean on my own understanding but I will acknowledge Him and He will make my path straight.
God is my healer, God is my deliverer, God is Shield, God is my light, God is my guide. There are hundred and hundred of principles and precepts in Gods Word. When I tithe and I truly trust God as my source and supplier, He says He will rebuke the devourer.
Because I am saved, my whole house hold will be saved. Let Gods Word be True and every man a lier.
What do we meditate on??? We talk about all the problems we have. We speak about our children and spouses about how they do not do the things we think they should.
When you meditate on the negative side of anything, you can not see or receive the positive of anything.
“For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.”
Job 3:25 KJV
Job meditated on death and loss and that is what He got. Fear and Faith are both very attractive forces. They both will draw things to you and draw you to them, what they offer to you.
How many times have i heard people say, yes i knew this was going to happen. They expected the worst and they are they got it. What you keep saying is what you really believe.
David became so afraid of King Saul, that he took off and ran and hide in a cave. Lived on the run hiding and even living on the side of the enemy the Philistines. You can see how what you keep saying is what you get.
There was another person the woman with the issue of bleeding for many years. The word says she kept saying over and over.
“For she kept saying to herself, If I only touch His garment, I shall be restored to health.”
Matthew 9:21 AMPC
What she meditated on caused her to move out from a place of fear, and embarrassment. What she meditated on caused her to move in faith, caused her to push through the crowds, what she meditated on caused her to risk, being punished because she was considered an unclean woman. The were not supposed to be in public much less touching a man and not just any man, but a famous man.
What you meditate on how you speak and think and how you see things like your life, your spouse, your children, your job or business, your church, your health, your future will create and force inside and around you moving you towards what you are meditating on.
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it [for death or life]. [Matt. 12:37.]”
Proverbs 18:21 AMPC
“Words kill, words give life; they’re either poison or fruit—you choose.”
Proverbs 18:21 MSG
If we are to create the successful life God has for us we must understand Words are powerful. I know we need to slow down and pray and consider more what we release from our mouth.
In anger or fear or frustration seems when we let loose and loose control over our mouth.
I remember reading Psalms of David when he was fearful or hurting, terrible things he released from his mouth.
Our words are to speak life and lift up and edify one another an to speak life over our situations.
The other day I bought some weed killer. It’s supposedly very powerful. When I begin to read the paper work of instructions it said this was not just a weed killer but it would kill everything and get into the ground and prevent anything from growing for a yea.
You have the power to speak life but also the power kill and destroy the ground of another person. We are lie soil. We need the right seeds to grow the right life.
Words are seeds. Something is going to grow out of your children. What are we speaking and what kinds of seeds are depositing inside the ground of their future. Our future. Our lives.
I have heard children, brothers and sisters speaking, ” I hate you!” Or I am nothing. I don’t matter. No one really cares about me. Lies. If the enemy can play with your thoughts to get you to release negative, destructive words that will destroy your success.
“He who guards his mouth and his tongue keeps himself from troubles. [Prov. 12:13; 13:3; 18:21; James 3:2.]”
Proverbs 21:23 AMPC
“Set a guard, O Lord, before my mouth; keep watch at the door of my lips.”
Psalm 141:3 AMPC
Guard your mouth, set a guard before your mouth, what does this mean? A guard has the responsibility to make sure what the door is guarded. The door is what you go in and out of. The guard is to insure, protect what passes out of our mouth. Some words should just stay locked up and not let out. Some people speak everything they feel and think, but really it’s not really Thinking at all. It’s a lack of wisdom to release words that are not uplifting, that are not edifying, words that bring construction and not destruction.
Some people your mouth is like a wreaking ball. Just knocking others down. Life and death are in the power of the tongue.
“If we set bits in the horses’ mouths to make them obey us, we can turn their whole bodies about. Likewise, look at the ships: though they are so great and are driven by rough winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the impulse of the helmsman determines.”
James 3:3-4 AMPC
